Your Safety is Our Priority

During these unprecedented times, we are all required to work together to adapt to the dynamic circumstances created by the Coronavirus (COVID-19).  Our focus is to help protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our customers, our teams, our partners and everyone around them, and this communication tells you how we are responding and how you can help.

Swagelok Scotland, Teesside & Ireland have been closely monitoring key international health organisations as well as the UK, Scottish and Irish Government to determine and recognise potential risks and ensure we are adhering to the guidelines issued. We remain committed to maintaining the flow of products and services and mitigating potential business disruption and have a local Business Continuity Team focused on making informed decisions that prioritise keeping everyone as safe as possible.

Manufacturing Supply Chain

Swagelok have a rigorous risk mitigation and supply chain program that accounts for some level of unplanned disruption.  Please read the latest statement here.

Locally, we hold 6-8 weeks inventory of regularly used parts to mitigate risks beyond our control, such as transport issues, importation, etc.  We also have multiple options in terms of replenishing inventory; several Corporate Regional Distribution Centres, further supported by inventory at more than 200 Swagelok Sales and Service Centres.

Customer Training

In light of the current situation, our Middlesbrough and Motherwell Training Academies will be closed until Monday 20th April.  If you have a training course or technical test booked before 20th April at these locations, you will receive a communication regarding this.

However, we understand that training may still be required to meet safety critical standards therefore, our Aberdeen Training Academy remains open for mandatory training required during this challenging time.  We have stringent measures in place within our facility to help reduce risk to our workforce and delegates.  This includes but not limited to; pre-checks for delegates prior to attending a training course or test, sanitisation of our facilities, social distancing measures and strict personal hygiene measures.

ECITB Technical Tests
If you were about to take your technical test and are approaching the 12-month limit for the Work Based Task Assignment, the ECITB have given an additional 3-month grace period due to the coronavirus situation.

Or, if you have an ECITB test certificate that expires in March or April, you will be granted an additional 3-month period on the current expiry date on your test certificate.

Visitors and Deliveries to our Facilities

All visits to our facilities have been suspended until further notice.  Exception may be granted for business-critical purposes accompanied by stringent measures to help reduce risk. 

Deliveries to our facilities are being fielded through our Fulfilment Centres and all delivery drivers are being asked to unload goods out with the buildings.  Social distancing measures are also in place.

If access to our buildings is required, all personnel are being asked to confirm they are not high risk as per the Government guidelines.

Travel Restrictions

Effective immediately, all business travel is suspended until further notice.  Exception may be granted for business-critical purposes accompanied by stringent measures to help reduce risk.

Our associates will be using technology to ensure business continuity with our customers where possible.

Maintaining a Healthy Workplace

Swagelok Scotland, Teesside & Ireland are taking the following actions and have issued the following advice to maintain a healthy workplace for all associates:

  • Continuing to provide hand sanitiser stations, tissues and anti-bacterial wipes throughout our facilities as well as anti-bacterial soap in our washrooms.  This continues our regular provision of these items during the common flu season.
  • Our facilities are being disinfected daily as part of our cleaning schedule.
  • Reinforcing that all associates should also follow good hygiene practices by covering their mouths and noses when coughing or sneezing, washing hands regularly, and staying at home when ill.
  • Associates who have the provision to work from home have been requested to do so until further notice and have been issued with helpful advice to make working from home easier.

Whilst Swagelok Scotland, Teesside & Ireland are fortunate to have no current reported cases of COVID-19, we are exercising caution and will continue to monitor the situation and will advise you of any changes as they arise.

Our Business Continuity Team are monitoring the situation on a regular basis and will continue to use communication technology to inform you of any changes.
