ECITB SBT03 - 1 Day: Cone and Thread
Fabricate assemble and install Cone and Thread Medium Pressure (MP) and High Pressure (HP) SBT connections.
Course Aims
To provide delegates with the skills and knowledge to safely fabricate and install cone and thread MP and HP connections, as well as disassemble and re-assemble existing systems.
Target Audience
To attend this course learners must have completed SBT01 within the last 12 months or have a current TSBT01 Test Certificate. This course is grant aided for ECITB registered employers.
Course Content- Cone and Thread SBT systems and components
- Isolation of SBT systems
- Correct, safe dismantling techniques
- Types of fittings used by manufacturers
- Tubing selection and identification
- Inspection of components and fault finding
- Correct use of tools - tube cutting, coning and threading
- Tube bending
- Correct assembly and torque of fittings
- Installation of C+T components and assemblies
Course Delivery
Academy based in Aberdeen, Motherwell and Middlesbrough. Where a customer has a significant training requirement, course delivery can also be arranged at customer premises.
Important Note – As of September 2025 the 2 Day version of SBT03 course was discontinued.
Certification
ECITB Certificate of Training (candidates are not considered technically competent at Stage 1).
Delegates will be issued with work logbooks to be completed in Stage 2 of the ECITB SBT model.

Technical Test Route Technical Testing with the associated ECITB certificate of achievement plays a key role in validating a candidates skill, ability and job knowledge in a specific task or activity. The technical test route following completion of the ECITB SBT03 course is TSBT03.
